Apple Mac Air

Apple Macbook Air

When the original Imac’s were introduced they were criticized for not including a floppy drive. I assume Apple believes the future is away from optical media. Unfortunately right now, the Mac Air cannot play DVD’s, and with Apple keeping tight control of Fairplay, you need a PC to watch streaming movies from sites like Amazon Unbox and Netflix Watch It Now.
I will certainly give Apple credit in one area though, their machines are beautiful from all directions. Why do PC laptops have to have stickers all over them?

HD DVD Dead?

Interesting article about HD DVD’s decline over at Crave. I’ve always thought Blue Ray was a better name for a next generation format. HD DVD has to many syllables.

With most of the major studios pulling their support, What is the future of HD DVD? DAT survived as a pro recording format even though it didn’t succeed as a consumer format. Could HD DVD survive as a recordable pro/prosumer HD format?
